Surfing

Anyone who can ride a board will tell you, the exhilaration you feel on top of a wave is addictive.

If you’re keen to find out for yourself, learning to surf is heaps of fun and the best place to start is in sunny Queensland.

Surf schools can be found along the coast with the most popular being the Gold Coast, well-known as a surfers paradise. Currumbin’s sheltered layout makes it a safe location and the quiet, friendly environment at Broadbeach is also a good place to get on-board.

Have a private lesson one-on-one or gather a small group of friends or family. Lessons generally last for an hour or so.

Experienced coaches will provide instructions in paddling, wave catching, various prone to feet methods and surf safety.

So if you’re a beginner or a ‘born again’ surfer, grab a board and head for the waves.
