Ever wished you could experience the world’s largest natural wonder without getting wet?
Thanks to imagery collected by the ground-breaking Catlin Seaview Survey you can now explore a number of our best reefs and dive sites on your device right here on our site.
The project launched in September 2012 on the Great Barrier Reef with the aim of making a significant contribution to human knowledge of coral reef systems worldwide and share the findings with the world. So far, more than 105,000 images from 32 locations on the reef have been collected.
The survey has been made possible by a partnership between international insurance company Catlin, the University of Queensland’s Global Change Institute, Google and Underwater Earth. All data is being made publicly available to both scientists and those simply wanting to take a virtual dive without getting wet.
