Gold Coast Airport Marathon Race Facts

  • The Gold Coast Airport Marathon has race lengths to suit any fitness level and includes a 42.2 km, 21.1km, 10km and 5.7km route.
  • Weather at the Gold Coast averages 287 days of sunshine a year!
  • The average temperature on the race day is 10 - 20 degrees celcius.

The Course - what you'll see along the way

  • Some of the Gold Coast's most beautiful and popular beaches.
  • Run past the stunning stretch of the Gold Coast's Broadwater and parklands where the locals play.
  • Spot world famous surf beaches.
  • Find your 'runspiration' with huge, happy crowds cheering you on, roving musicians and entertainment all along the course.
  • Run alongside the lively entertainment and dining hubs that the Gold Coast is famous for.

Race Tips

  • Stay hydrated: Drink 120-180ml water every hour before the race.
  • Eat plenty of carbohydrates: You should be eating 60-75% of calories from carbs in the lead up to the race (not just the night before!).
  • Get there early and warn up: Take your time to mentally and physically prepare for the race. Keep your warm-up to a slow jogging/ walking for 10-15 minutes, so you save as much of your carbohydrate reserves as possible.
  • Do dynamic stretching: Stretching drills such as high knees, heel kicks and walking lunges will improve your functional range of motion without burning a significant amount of carbohydrates.
