Hughenden Country Music Festival is an annual event held over the Easter Weekend for three days. The festival is held to encourage the young and young at heart to compete in a Country Music Talent Quest. There are 10 sections for Adults to compete in and four sections each for Junior and Juvenile contestants. The prize money for Grand Champion is AUD2,000.00 and Junior and Juvenile Champion with prize money of AUD1000.00 each. There is also a people's choice award and encouragement award sponsored by a local family.
The Hughenden Country Music Festival attracts contestants from all over Queensland, so if you want to compete or just be part of the audience come and join the locals at the Festival. The Festival commences on 10 April 2009 with a meet and greet dinner for contestants and sponsors. Presentations of trophies and prize money will be made on Easter Sunday.

Miscellaneous:
Hughenden is situated half way between Townsville and Mount Isa on the Flinders Highway. When coming into Hughenden from Townsville drive up Gray Street until you come to Brodie Street, turn right up one block to the Diggers Entertainment Centre which is on the left hand side. If coming in from Mount Isa come down the highway until you reach the intersection of Gray and Stansfield Streets, turn left into Gray Street and then right into Brodie Street.
