Drop into a Visitor Information Centre to find out more about the area and have a chat to the local volunteers who staff the centre. VICs will provide you with brochures and maps for their area. VICs often have toilet facilities and some also have coffeeshops or other refreshment stands. Have a look at VICs throughout Queensland.
Rest Areas are places where you can stop and rest to make your trip safer and more enjoyable. Make use of facilities such as toilets and sheltered picnic areas. Rest areas are not provided as long-term camping areas, however motorists are able to take extended rest breaks at certain sites. Rules on the length of stay at rest areas vary. Each holiday season Driver Reviver sites open right across Australia. Supported by volunteers Driver Reviver sites are an ideal place to take a break on a long journey.
