Mundubbera & Gayndah

North of the South Burnett the Country Way hits the largest citrus farming area in the Southern Hemisphere. The Burnett Highway carries this section of the Country Way west to the citrus towns of Mundubbera and Gayndah - well endowed with pubs, some lovely cafes, and locals keen for a chat.

Continuing north through to the Banana Shire from Eidsvold to Biloela the Country Way crosses stunning countryside. Travel across undulating hills and valley, past sweeping green fields separated by eucalyptus trees. Take a turn off the main road and explore the untouched forests of Goodnight Scrub National Park, and the Lakes Cania and Monduran. Be amazed at Cania Gorge National Park's stunning sandstone cliffs.

North lies Mount Morgan, a town built on gold and copper. Explore the open cut gold mine before heading to Rockhampton. Take in the Fitzroy River and the grand old pubs, wolf down a steak and explore the surrounding beauty. From the Capricorn Coast with access to the Great Barrier Reef, to Mount Archer's panoramic views, and the Capricorn Caves limestone grottos this region is unique and memorable.

Mundubbera and Gayndah live within the Citrus Country region. For more information about this region, download the official Australia's Country Way brochure here.
