Equipment

Do I need my own diving equipment?
Most dive operators can supply everything you need for a dive or snorkelling experience, even underwater photography equipment. Tanks and weight belts are provided as standard. Check with your dive operator at he time of booking as to what equipment is provided and be aware that additional fees may apply for some equipment hire. Alternatively, you can always bring your own equipment with you.

What about wetsuits?
We recommend you wear some form of protection against cold, sun and abrasions. With Queensland's warm waters, heavy wetsuits are rarely needed, unless you're diving in the southern waters over winter (June-August). Lycra or 3mm suits are adequate for most regions throughout the year. Click to view Queensland water temperatures.

Will I need a power adaptor?
Australian domestic power standard is 240V @ 50htz, with 3 pronged power sockets. It is best to bring your own international power adaptor to use your electrical appliances or battery chargers.

What is the standard tank fitting / cylinder valve connection?
In Australia, tanks are equipped with INT fittings, the same fitting that is used in the USA. If you are bringing your own equipment and you have DIN fittings, it is recommended that you bring an adaptor with you, as very few operators carry DIN fittings.

Is Nitrox diving available?
Yes, some dive operators provide Nitrox facilities and training - check with your dive operator prior to making your booking.

What else do I need to bring?
Sunscreen, a hat, long sleeved shirt, sunglasses.
