Description

One of the world's toughest outrigger canoe racing events, the annual Hamilton Cup is expanding and has changed its name in 2013. The inaugural Gatorade Clash of the Paddles will be held on Hamilton Island, in partnership with the Australian Outrigging Canoe Association (AOCRA) and more recently, Surf Life Saving Australia.

Run over four exciting days, competitive outriggers will be joined by athletes from three other popular paddle disciplines; Surf Ski, Stand-Up Paddle Paddling (SUP) and Board Paddling. Capped off with an exciting off-water entertainment program, the Gatorade Battle of the Paddles is an oarsome event for every type of paddler.

Registrations for surf ski and paddle board categories will close on Thursday 7 June at 5.00pm. Registrations will be available during the event and on the day but are subject to availability in each race.

Entry for Australian competitors into outrigger categories must by made through their club as per the new AOCRA nomination system. Payment must be processed at the time of nomination, via either pre-authorised Direct Debit, or via credit card. Team nominations must be completed online via the new AOCRA nomination system by 5.00pm Friday 1 June 2012.
International competitors similarly must nominate through the AOCRA nomination system. All competitor names must be entered at this time. Payment must be processed at the time of nomination, via credit card. International team nominations are entered at the time of initial Club nomination due Friday 25 May 2012.


How To Get There:
Getting to Hamilton Island is easy. As the only Whitsundays Island with its own commercial airport, Hamilton Island has direct flights daily from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns, with Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Qantas. Regional charter flights can also be organised from Mackay, Proserpine and Airlie Beach. Ferries sail to Hamilton Island throughout the day from Shute Harbour, on the mainland. Yachties sailing to Hamilton Island will find a welcoming berth at the marina.
