General Comments
Located at the gateway to the World Heritage Whitsunday Islands, this charming authentic and award winning Cane Cutters Cottage is perfectly located for the best holiday experience in the Whitsundays. Airlie Beach with all its trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands are just five minutes away.
The Cottage is perfect for one couple with just one bedroom. A sofa-bed can accommodate two more people. Children are welcome and additional foldaway beds can be arranged. Self-drive is recommended. Hire cars and taxis are also available.
Situated at the end of a quiet country lane on a private property, the cottage is surrounded by rainforest and tropical gardens. Overlooking a pond, the area has at least 64 species of birds and early mornings and evening are the perfect time to watch wallabies close up, grazing on the grass. The owners live on the property and have fully restored the cottage and furnished it with treasured family antiques.
How To Get There
Take the Whitsunday Coast turn-off at Proserpine. Drive approximately ten minutes on the Shute Harbour Road to Airlie Beach. Turn left at the Centro Shopping Centre traffic lights into Paluma Road.
Follow this winding country road about one kilometre, across a small creek and past mango trees, past some country properties. The road takes some sharp curves. Then turn left into Wallace Drive and turn right at the end into Braithwaite Court. The Cottage is at the end of this road, on the left side, with Cane Cutters Cottage sign at the gate.
Self Contained 1 Bedroom Cottage
Award winning, self-contained restored classic 100 year Queensland cottage. The cottage has a living room with double sofa bed, breezy veranda, bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower and washing machine, plus fully equipped kitchen. Sleeping for additional adults or children is in a double sofa-bed in the living room. Tropical gardens overlooking rainforest gully, small farm dam and wildlife.
The double sofa-bed in the living room makes additional sleeping for adults or children. An alternative rollaway bed is available and more convenient than the sofa-bed especially if just for one child.
