Set on a gentle hilltop overlooking the Coral Sea and the newly constructed 'Port of Airlie' Marina, this mid-sized backpackers resort offers genuine Australian hospitality. The fully renovated hostel provides many facilities including a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, a salt-water pool and sunbaking area and internet access - including free WiFi.
... moreBackpackers By The Bay is the only purpose built hostel in the Whitsunday's, so the emphasis is on guest interaction. Social activities such as team trivia competitions and latest release movies on the outdoor screen are held nightly.
The hostel's tour desk offers unbiased advice on the myriad of water and land-based activities available in the region. Local and stand-by rates are often offered giving guests the opportunity to save substantial amounts of money. Guests who book overnight sailing tours and dive courses directly through the hostel tour desk also receive a bonus one nights' accommodation free of charge.
Whilst the hostel is only a four-minute walk from all the nightlife of Airlie Beach, guests arriving via coach are met by the hostel's courtesy bus. Backpackers By The Bay offers a quiet and relaxing place to sleep after a day of sailing, or night out on the town.

Further Details:
For guests arriving via coach, courtesy transfers are available from the transit centre to the hostel between 6.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m each day.
Guests arriving by plane or train should contact Whitsunday Transit for door to door transfers.
How To Get There:
For self-drive: follow Shute Harbour Road (the main street) through the township of Airlie Beach and turn right at the round-about at the end of town - remaining on Shute Harbour Road. Continue on for 400 metres until you reach the next round-about and turn right again into Hermitage Drive. The hostel is located approximately 150 metres along Hermitage Drive on the right hand side of the street and is well sign-posted. Off street parking is available at the rear of the hostel.
