Set in a turquoise sea, the five islands of the remote Lizard Island Group National Park are part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Lizard, the main island, has several idyllic, sheltered, sandy beaches with easy access to picturesque coral and clam gardens.
Snorkel in the sheltered, shallow waters of Watsons Bay. Following in the footsteps of the famous explorer, climb to Cook's Look, 395 metres, or walk to the Blue Lagoon on the other side of the island. Bush camp near the beach at peaceful Watsons Bay. Learn about a tragic episode in the island's history at Mary Watson's cottage.

How to get There
The group of islands are 93 kilometres north-east of Cooktown, about 27 kilometres from the coast. There is an airstrip for small commercial and private aircraft. Regular flight leave from Cairns, as well as chartered flights from both Cairns and Cooktown.
Commercial ships, charter and private boats visit the island, and there are anchoring restrictions which apply to protect the coral.
