Mungkan Kaanju (Kandju) National Park is a wilderness park of open woodlands, melaleuca swamps and rainforest. This park is a living cultural landscape, rich in significance for the Aboriginal Traditional Owners. It stretches from the McIlwraith Range foothills and is bounded by the west-flowing Archer and Coen Rivers. Bush camp at one of several secluded campsites. Go birdwatching around waterlily-covered lagoons and forest-fringed riverbanks. Go spotlighting in the rainforest to sight the common spotted cuscus.

How To Get There
The park is 10 to 12 hours north of Cairns, through Coen to the Rokeby turnoff. Accessible by four-wheel-drive vehicles generally during the dry season, June to November.
