Description

The Australian Italian Festival which is in its19th year will be held at the picturesque Tyto Wetlands Precinct, one of North Queensland's most colourful and successful events, providing an exciting line-up of entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy. This Festival is a celebration through food , entertainment and traditional activities of the contribution that the Italian Migrants have made to the Ingham District and the surrounding Shires.

This annual festival, which is a tribute to the Italian heritage of the sugar-growing Hinchinbrook Shire, had its humble beginnings as an idea from a community workshop. Today the award-winning event attracts thousands of people to this culturally enriched region of Australia.

Children:
They have activities for the children - Sucrogen Kids Corner - face painting, badge making, colouring in, making placemats- all activities to keep the youngsters busy. This is run by their Local Community Youth Group under the supervision of Adults Leaders and Mentors. Amusement Rides.

Contact the Festival Office for further details on access for guests with a disability.

Pets Allowed:
Yes. Pets are allowed into the Festival General Public Area No animals near any designated Food Areas All pets must be on a leash at all times If an animal is classed as dangerous, they will be refused entry Owners must clean up after their pet. The Festival is not liable for any injury or damage occurred by your pet. Please observe signs which will indicate where your pet is allowed.

How To Get There

Ingham is located 110 kilometres on the Bruce Highway north of Townsville. From Townsville (south) - the Festival site is on the left hand side on Townsville Road just before the first set of lights on the highway 500 metres from the town of Ingham. They have ample parking in McIlwraith Street which is also an entrance to the event.

From Cairns (north) - continue on the Bruce Highway until you reach the white bridge and then turn right and continue past the Post Office and then turn left into Townsville Road and the Festival site is on the right hand side on Townsville Road just past the lights. The street is Macrossan Street.
