Licuala Lodge is an award winning timber pole home located in Mission Beach, which is in the heart of Queensland's Wet Tropics, where the rainforest meets the beach. Mission Beach is an unspoilt oasis of paradise situated halfway between Cairns and Townsville, and is one of the closest mainland points to the Outer Barrier Reef. The area is home to the regal Southern Cassowary - a magnificent bird, but unfortunately also an endangered species.
The lodge is set in two and a half acres of world heritage rainforest, just a mere one and a half kilometres from the beach . Guest accommodation is separate to the main house, each unit has its own ensuite and own private veranda overlooking the lush tropical gardens. There is a magnificent waterfall swimming pool with beach entry, open for your enjoyment day and night.
A fully cooked breakfast or a great tropical breakfast (the choice is yours) is served on the upper veranda of the main house. There is a large guest lounge with television, DVD player, library, games, tour desk and best of all a magic fridge always full of cold drinks and beer. Drinks at the lodge are complimentary (tea, coffee, soft drinks and beer).
If you want peace and tranquillity, then they can be found here - no traffic noise, no aircraft noise - bliss!!
Mission Beach also offers plenty of activities for the more energetic. Scuba diving, skydiving, white water rafting and sea kayaks are on offer. Also fishing, golf, cycling and seven or eight excellent rainforest walks.
And if you can't bear to be away from the computer, then Internet access is available. All your laundry needs can be met, and children aged 10 to 17 are welcome. The Lodge is not suitable for children under the age of 10.

Children: Children aged 10 to 17 are welcome at the Lodge, but must be under supervision of parents at all times. Children's toys and games are available free of charge.
Miscellaneous:
One child aged 10 to 17 years, costs AUD25.00 per night when sharing a guest room with one or two adults. An extra bed is provided.
There is no cancellation fee. All the hosts ask is that if travelling plans have changed for any reason, then please let them know as soon as possible.
Tropical breakfast plus complimentary drinks - tea, coffee, soft drinks and beer included. Your hosts will drive you to local restaurants free of charge. Honeymooners and Anniversary couples staying more than one night will have a bottle of wine on arrival.
Travelling south from Cairns, stay on the Bruce Highway till the township of El Arish. Turn left (sign posted Mission Beach) and follow the road for 15 kilometres. Turn right along Cassowary Drive (sign posted Wongaling Beach and South Mission Beach) for one and a half kilometres and turn right into Mission Circle. Travelling north from Townsville, stay on the Bruce Highway until two kilometres past the town of Tully. Turn right for Mission Beach, and stay on that road for approximately 20 kilometres. About one kilometre after a set of shops on the right, is a left turning - Mission Circle. The Lodge has several road signs, including one just before Mission Circle.
