Description

The IGA Coolum Kite Festival is one of the largest and most unique annual events held on the Sunshine Coast. It is a spectacular free festival of kite flying and kitesurfing, featuring hundreds of kites of all shapes and sizes flown throughout its Springtime weekend by over 80 experienced celebrities who travel here from the near and far reaches of the world. Highlights also include quality roving entertainment, giant aerial displays, skydivers, fresh food, craft workshops, bands, fireworks, a kidzone, lantern parade and large-scale sand sculpture. This colourful, cultural extravaganza attracts up to 40,000 attendees who gather to enjoy the fun-filled family atmosphere and dramatic beach environs that captures the spirit and quality of Queensland. The IGA Coolum Kite Festival is a community event that's become a showcase for one of the best kite festivals globally. Thousands of locals and visitors of all ages flock here every year to soak up the natural beauty of this area. They are drawn to not only behold the majestic scenery, but to experience first-class and ever-changing, interactive displays of art, music and sport. For those contemplating their first trip to Queensland, this festival offers a fantastic base to explore the wonders of this region from the beach to the hinterland beyond.

How To Get There:
If travelling north on the Sunshine Coast Motorway, vehicles may access the David Low Way from the Peregian Beach turnoff. Head right towards Coolum. Park on the street or at the Coolum Soccer Club grounds. If travelling south, turnoff at the Coolum Beach exit. Head left onto David Low Way. Park on the street or at Jack Morgan Park on Perry Street. A free shuttle bus will regularly operate between these locations as David Low Way will be closed to traffic between Hewitt Street and Springfield Avenue. However, disabled parking will be allocated at the foot of Stumers Creek Road.
