Goomburra, Main Range National Park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, that features superb views over Laidley Valley, the rugged border ranges to the south, and Mount Castle in the north. The dry open forest contains New England blackbutt and manna gums. There are two camping areas, both open grassy areas suited to families. Starting from the camp, select one of three walking tracks, ranging from an easy 1.2 kilometre circuit suitable for wheelchairs with assistance, to a six kilometre track showcasing waterfalls and freshwater habitats.
Watch for echidnas and koalas. See satin bowerbirds and variegated fairy-wrens, or listen to the calls of shy yellow-tailed black-cockatoos. A short four-wheel-drive away, two more tracks lead to scenic lookouts, both within an hour's walk. There are also three longer walking tracks in this area, including the Winder track featuring an old forestry snigging trail and winder.
