Standing guard over their ancient mountain home, the magnificent Bunya Pine Trees of the Bunya Mountains National Park tower high above as you peer up from the forest floor. These silent sentries share a similar history to the 2000 year old Antarctic Beech Trees in Springbrook National Park south-east of Brisbane. This park along with several others, provide refuge for some of the rarest flora and fauna on the planet.
South East Queensland Country is home to elusive animals such as the shy platypus and mimicking lyrebird. And a must-see are magnificent mountain waterfalls dropping from a great height to send plumes of fine water mist into the air.
The kids will love exploring massive granite monoliths perched precariously among the wildflowers and rock pools.
Lush tropical rainforest walks, both long for the adults, and short for the kids, are plentiful throughout South East Queensland Country. Some of the more popular walks can be found on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the Scenic Rim and the beautiful mountains near Toowoomba.
