If getting away from it all and relaxing in the countryside is what you love, then you can't miss Kilcoy. Just over an hour's drive from downtown Brisbane, here you'll find a landscape characterised by rolling hills, sprawling pastures and shimmering lakes.

From the moment you arrive, you will discover a rustic and rural aspect that is both engagingly rugged and beautiful. Extensive forests and national parks surround the township, and at its fringes lay the picturesque Mount Kilcoy and Sandy Creek Valleys. A must-do is the scenic drive to Jimna to visit the striking Peach Trees Camping Ground. Also popular is a visit to Yowie Park for a picnic amongst the weeping willows and water birds, overlooking the stunning Greensill Lake.

But it's not all about the views in Kilcoy - there are plenty of activities in the region as well. Fresh water fishing, sailing, waterskiing and canoeing are possible on nearby Lake Somerset. Local wineries are open for tastings, and four wheel drive enthusiasts will revel in the challenging Landcruiser Mountain Park, 22 kilometres north of Jimna.

General Comments

Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre is located in Webster Cottage situated in Yowie Park ,where there are good picnic areas and restrooms. Yowie Park is on the D'Aguilar Highway about 1 km west of the main town centre of Kilcoy. Plenty of parking for buses and cars is available within close proximity of the centre at Yowie Park.

The Visitor information Centre is staffed by volunteers who sell their locally made handcrafts as well as providing information for visitors. Operating profits go toward maintaining the building and donations to local charities.

The centre is open 7 Days a week between 9.30am and 3.00pm. (Except Christmas Day and Anzac Day)
