Even when travelling through Queensland's Outback, a state of the art sports and aquatic centre is only as far away as the sign to Boulia. The recently constructed a four million dollar Boulia Sports and Aquatic Centre is proving to be an oasis for visitors wanting to dip in the 25 metre heated pool or work out in the air-conditioned gymnasium.
Other facilities at the centre include an indoor sports stadium incorporating basketball, netball, volleyball and badminton, along with an exercise room and two squash courts. In addition to this fully air-conditioned sports hall is a viewing area and cinema/meeting room. The cafe and bar area overlook the fully shaded heated pool and children's splash pool coupled with a playground and barbecue area. The centre complements the existing grassed sports oval and shaded tennis courts.
The centre is open seven days a week and offers many activities for all levels of fitness. Regular exercise regimes include water aerobics, social squash games, organised walks followed by a delicious breakfast, swimming training and learn to swim, to name a few.
