Stop over in Windorah for a unique evening of racing and revelry on your way to the Birdsville Races. The Windorah International Yabby races are held on the street in front of the Western Star Hotel so you can enjoy local hospitality and live entertainment throughout the night. Ten yabbies are auctioned off prior to each of the four races, the Coopers Creek Cup, Barcoo Bolt, Thomson Trot and Kyabra Kanter. Buy a yabby in the auction and you might share the prize money. Half of the takings goes to supporting community projects.
They are held on the Wednesday night before the Birdsville Races which are run on the first weekend in September.
