  • Misty Mountains Wilderness Walks in Tropical North Queensland, http://www.mistymountains.com.au. This is Australia's first network of long distance walking trails in a high altitude rainforest environment. Over 130 kilometres of tracks have been constructed. Detailed information can be found on this website.

  • Take a Walk in Queensland's National Parks (Southern Zone), http://www.takeawalk.com.au by John and Lyn Daly, 2002. This comprehensive guide to bushwalking in Southern Queensland is designed to introduce people to the splendour of our unique national parks. It includes detailed notes on history, features, access and more than 1000kms of walk descriptions in national parks.

  • Tropical Walking Tracks, http://www.footloosebooks.com.au by Kym Dungey and Jane Whytlaw (Footloose Publications). Kym and Jane have researched and written five guidebooks with maps and descriptions of 200 paths, walking tracks and trails from Townsville to Cooktown in North Queensland. The books cover the World Heritage Wet Tropics Area, nearby islands in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the Atherton Tableland and the Gulf Savannah.

  • National Park Bushwalks of the Great South East by the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 2001 - covering the best places to go bushwalking in national parks in South-East Queensland.

  • Outdoor Australia. A national magazine published every 2 months, which is aimed at a broad audience covering snow boarding and mountain bike riding as well as bushwalking and canoeing.   • Adventure Gear Guide, http://www.adventurepublishing.com.au. The Adventure Gear Guide 2006 has 148 pages of gear facts and advice for Australian bushwalkers, campers, mountain bikers, paddlers, adventure racers and four-wheel drivers. It also includes "How To" stories and technique articles.

  • Mountain Designs, http://www.mountaindesigns.com. Mountain Designs produce high quality outdoor gear for bushwalking and other activities, including sleeping bags, hiking boots and clothing.

Protected Area Management Agencies

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), http://www.epa.qld.gov.au. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which includes the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), is a department of the Queensland Government. Among the EPA's key functions are environmental planning, environmental policy, and management of parks, forestry and wildlife. The EPA website contains a database of National Parks in Queensland, featuring park descriptions and other up to date information.

  • Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), http://www.gbrmpa.gov.au. GBRMPA provides for the protection, wise use, understanding and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef through the care and development of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

  • Wet Tropics Management Authority, http://www.wettropics.gov.au. The authority provides for the implementation of Australia's international duty to protect, conserve, present, rehabilitate and transmit to future generations the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area. Among other interesting information, this website features a comprehensive list of walking trails in the Wet Tropics.
