The Lower Ballanjui Falls track is located in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park. This stunning park covers 20,590 hectares and boasts extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, which allow visitors to explore the area's forests, creeks and waterfalls. Dramatic lookouts afford views over the Gold Coast, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Lamington is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, which includes the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world. The Lower Ballanjui Falls track uses part of the Ship's Stern track as far as the bottom of Nixon's Creek Valley.

The track descends sharply into the Nixon's Creek valley through eucalypt forest and patches of rainforest, with good views from Koolanbilba and Yangahla Lookouts. The track winds down through eucalypt forest and reaches the Lower Bellbird Circuit junction where there are magnificent stands of flooded gum and a giant red cedar. The track to Lower Ballanjui Falls leads off to the right.
