Lambs Head, also known as Kahlpahlim Rock, is the highest point in the Lamb Range and presents a challenging adventure for the experienced bushwalker.
The track rises steeply through woodland and rainforest, mostly along old logging roads, before turning into a bush track. From here it winds up and around the massive boulders and pristine high altitude rainforest to Lambs Head.
Weather permitting, the views are absolutely magnificent, overlooking Copperlode Dam and the ranges below and then further down to Cairns, Trinity Inlet and the sea. This is considered one of the best walks in North Queensland.

Only experienced walkers should tackle the trail to Kahlpahlim Rock. You will need a permit to drive into the state forest if you wish to do this walk. Be well prepared for this long day walk. And beware, the track is sometimes not well marked and hard to follow.Some local knowledge and a map are helpful. It is very steep and slippery when wet. The alternative return route along the Ridge trail is less steep and less diverse. Take drinking water and wear a hat and sunscreen. |

Take the Davies Creek turn off, 21 kilometres from Kuranda and 14 kilometres from Mareeba, on the Kennedy Highway. The trailhead is 14.5 kilometres along this road, past the Davies Creek camping area and falls walk and through the forestry gate. Get instructions from the QPWS office.
