Description

This track starts from the northern end of the Cape Hillsborough picnic area and passes through open eucalypt forest and remnant rainforest with hoop pines, ferns and vines. The track ends in Beachcomber Cove, where walkers can enjoy pleasant views from a lookout on top of the ridge. At low tide, you can return to Cape Hillsborough picnic area along the beach. At high tide, you will need to retrace your steps along the track. Check tide times before setting out.

From the car park and picnic area, the walk begins on a track in between the toilets and ranger hut.

Walk Hints

Swimming is not recommended. Estuarine crocodiles live in these waters and box jellyfish are present in the sea from October to May.

When walking wear insect repellent, a hat and sunscreen. Carry drinking water.

Best Time To Go

Walk between April and September to avoid wet and dry weather extremes.

How To Get There:
Reach the park from the Bruce Highway. From the south, take the Seaforth road 20 kilometres north of Mackay and continue 20 kilometres to the Cape Hillsborough turnoff.
From the north, the partly unsealed Seaforth road leaves the highway about 80 kilometres south of Proserpine at Mt Ossa. The park is 10 kilometres from the Cape Hillsborough turnoff.
