Arts and Culture

Immerse yourself in the art of Mackay’s art deco inspired design by taking a self-guided Heritage Walk through the city centre. Here you will also find Artspace, Mackay’s award winning Cox Rayner designed gallery and museum with an ever changing program of exhibitions from local, national and international collections.

Amateur history buffs will get a kick out of the Sarina Sugar Shed with a ‘touchy-feely-tasty’ journey through the history of Australia’s sugar cane capital. Get an understanding of the mining industry with a free tour to the Blair Athol Coal Mine and see the mines in action along the Mining Trail!

If you love the performing arts, make sure to double-check the Mackay events calendar and get along to one of the arts and music festivals on throughout the year. Or, you can make you way to the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre to see what’s on.
