Islands and Beaches

Located just off the coast of Mackay at the end of the Whitsunday passage, is beautiful Brampton Island. Fringed by 12 unspoiled beaches and almost entirely covered in National Park, the island’s resort is a magnet for couples in search of a romantic tropical getaway.

Not far away is Keswick Island, where you can enjoy superb coral snorkelling just metres from the beach. You can also take pleasure in excellent beach fishing, or take a fishing charter boat from Mackay to the Great Barrier Reef.

Across the water on the mainland, Mackay boasts numerous palm-lined beaches where the urge to swim, fish and sunbathe is too hard to resist. Beach fishing is some of the best in the country and there are many other activities on offer such as sailing and waterskiing. Lamberts Beach, at Slade Point boasts spectacular views and is a popular spot for surfers when the swell is up. The area is also a great whale watching platform during the winter months.
