The calm swimming conditions makes it the perfect spot for beginners to learn how to surf or try stand-up paddle boarding. At Burleigh you can look at the rock pools and take a nature walk right off the beach into Burleigh Head National Park. It’s also a great spot to relax on a blanket with freshly cooked fish and chips.
A visit to the family-friendly Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a must, as is the sheltered swimming holes of Tallebudgera Creek and the Currumbin Rock Pools.
At the most southern end of the Gold Coast, the old-school Aussie surf culture precinct of Coolangatta is home to famous surf breaks and the annual Quiksilver Pro event.
