Southern Gold Coast

Known for its laid-back lifestyle, excellent swimming and surfing conditions, the Southern Gold Coast boasts many of the area’s best beaches and other well-kept secrets.

The calm swimming conditions makes it the perfect spot for beginners to learn how to surf or try stand-up paddle boarding. At Burleigh you can look at the rock pools and take a nature walk right off the beach into Burleigh Head National Park. It’s also a great spot to relax on a blanket with freshly cooked fish and chips.

A visit to the family-friendly Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a must, as is the sheltered swimming holes of Tallebudgera Creek and the Currumbin Rock Pools.

At the most southern end of the Gold Coast, the old-school Aussie surf culture precinct of Coolangatta is home to famous surf breaks and the annual Quiksilver Pro event.
