Description

The old saw-milling town of Canungra is the springboard to Lamington National Park and its popular mountain resorts.

Visitors can take a walk through the sawmill's old tramway tunnel cut through sandstone, where the walls show the scars caused by logs jamming against them. The beautiful timbers used in the interior of St Luke's Church also bear testimony to Canungra's timber heritage.

Now the town has become a haven for artists and craft-workers. View their work at local galleries and potteries and then sit back with a cup of coffee at one of the local cafes. If your thoughts turn to adventure, learn to hang-glide, para glide or take a horse trek through the picturesque Biddaddaba Valley.

How To Get There

Canungra is located an hours drive from Brisbane. From Brisbane take the Pacific motorway towards Beenleigh and take exit 35 - main street. At the roundabout take the 4th exit onto Rochester Drive and take the 4th exit at the next roundabout onto Main Street/ Milne Street. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road and follow the signs towards Canungra.
