Gold Coast

Islands and Beaches

With over 70km of golden sand coastline, it’s not hard to see why the Gold Coast is a world-class beach holiday destination. The beaches are magnificent and each beach precinct brings its own distinctive vibe to life through the energy of its surroundings.

Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads top the famous Gold Coast beach list as long-standing favourites among visiting and local beach-lovers.

For a family-friendly day at the beach, try the shady parks at Mermaid and Miami beaches, perfect for a picnic lunch and play-time for the kids. If you’re looking for calmer waters, Tallebudgera Creek, the western side of The Spit and the lagoon at the Broadwater Parklands offer shallow and sheltered swimming spots.

The surf breaks at Snapper Rocks, Currumbin Alley and The Spit are legendary names in surfing circles and attract surfers from around the world. Coolangatta is home to annual surf events like the Quicksilver Pro and has an old-school Aussie surf culture embedded in its slice of shoreline.

Only minutes off the coast, but another world away, is beautiful South Stradbroke Island. The untouched natural beauty of the island is a haven for visitors and boasts a secluded lagoon-like beach as well as some excellent surfing beaches on the eastern side.
