ITU Gold Coast Triathlon World Championships

The eyes of the triathlon world will be on the Gold Coast next year when the 2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships is staged at the Southport Broadwater Parklands.

Each year the triathlon world watches as the very best triathletes from around the globe gather to contest these annual championships.

The five day event will feature upwards of 3,000 athletes, attract 50,000 spectators and will showcase the Gold Coast and Queensland to a global audience. The World Championships is the pinnacle of achievement for these athletes who will qualify through national selection to represent their countries.

The championships cater for Elite, Under 23, Junior, Age Group, and Athletes with a disability (AWAD) categories. Also held in conjunction will be a ""People's Triathlon"" giving everyone the chance to be part of this wonderful sporting festival.
