The Gladstone region is a gateway to the World Heritage wonders of the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
From Gladstone marina you can reach Heron and Wilson Islands, while the towns of Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy are departure points for outer reef tours and Lady Musgrave Island. The islands offer some breathtakingly beautiful sights both below the water and above. The waters around Lady Musgrave are calm and protected, allowing easy access to the wonders of the reef for inexperienced swimmers. The 2,000 acre lagoon of Fitzroy Reef is another popular destination for nature lovers.
Other natural attractions in the region include some majestic National Parks. Expedition National Park in the Banana Shire is a wilderness of rugged gorges and spectacular views, wildflowers in the spring, and abundant native wildlife. In the same shire you'll also find Kroombit Top National Park with its sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and sub-tropical rainforest.

Picture yourself - travelling in a four-wheel drive bus along Fraser Island's beaches or rainforest tracks, swimming in a crystal clear lake with a white sandy bottom, watching dolphins frolicking in the waves along the beach, and freshwater creeks flowing from sand dunes; or stepping off a beautiful coral cay island into turquoise water, snorkelling through mazes of brightly coloured coral, or fishing on the reef, and picturing big sea turtles swimming slowly by as you laze in the beautiful warm water of a coral lagoon.
