If you’re on the Fraser Coast during the winter months, you may stumble across a bevy of pram-wielding nannies racing madly down the main street or Maryborough. It’s all part of the Great Mary Poppins Nanny Challenge — a fun family event the whole family will love!

Maryborough is the birthplace of the author of Mary Poppins, and the townsfolk are rightly proud of this distinguished literary connection by holding an annual festival.

Slightly less distinguished, but just as much fun, is the World’s Greatest Pub Crawl! The weird, the wacky and the wildly attired come out to play for this colourful event.

Just as wacky are the ghost tours of historic Maryborough. Get to know The Undertaker, The Pastor, The Wailing Widow and the gossiping Sexton’s Wife on this ghoulish adventure.

Steeped in fascinating history, the impressive colonial architecture of the area can be enjoyed on a leisurely river cruise or guided walking tour. Take a further step back in time with a visit to the historic Portside Centre and museum.

But no visit to the Fraser Coast can be complete without experiencing the succulent seafood caught fresh in the bay. Matched with the very best fresh local produce, a seafood feast on the Fraser Coast is something you’ll want to write home about!

And of course, South Burnett is fast becoming one of the largest and most popular wine areas in Queensland. Located about 1½ hours drive south-west of Maryborough, the South Burnett region boasts 18 cellar doors, many with wine events, on-site accommodation and restaurants/cafes.
