Beaches Backpackers is located in the seaside coastal town on Hervey Bay, gateway to World Heritage Listed Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world and the only place on the planet with rainforest grows on sand! Over 120 kilometres long and over 30 kilometres across at its widest point, the Island has developed over 800,000 years and is a unique natural environment.

Beach Backpackers provides the best stepping off point for experiencing Fraser Island with a self-drive four wheel drive camping safari, or a guided day or overnight experience. The team on the Beaches Travel Desk can provide you with professional advice on a range of options available for your Fraser Island discovery.

The hostel offers a range of budget style accommodation included shared dormitory, twin and double rooms with both unsuited and shared facilities available. All rooms are serviced daily.

The Beaches Bar and Restaurant provide a venue for a range of activities each night where guests can party into the early hours of the morning.

Children are not permitted to stay at the resort. Guests must be 18 years or above to stay at Beaches Backpackers.

Disabled:
There is access for guests with a disability. Please discuss your requirements when making your booking. The hostel has a purpose built disabled access room with wide doorways and bathroom with easy access and rails. The public areas also have ramps and wide doorways and disabled access parking.

Cancellation Information:
Cancellations made within 24 hours will result in a cancellation fee equal to the first night's accommodation.

Guests have access to a range of facilities including an extensive outdoor area with in-ground swimming pool, barbecue facilities and a games area. In addition to this, communal kitchen and dining room, laundry, global gossip internet facilities and a travel desk are also available. Complimentary transfers are provided to the bus station and local shopping centre, and for those travelling by car, secure parking facilities are available.

From late July to early November, Hervey Bay has become famous as the playground of the majestic humpback whales and their calves on their return to the Antarctic. Visitors can view these magnificent creatures from a range of tours operating out of Hervey Bay.

How To Get There:
Car: From the Bruce Highway (National Highway One) take the turn off to Hervey Bay (via Maryborough). On arrival to Hervey Bay, follow the main road (Boat Harbour Drive) and turn left at the traffic lights into Denman Camp Road. Drive until you come to Beaches on the right hand side, on the corner of the Torquay Road intersection.
Plane: Flights direct into Hervey Bay arrive at the Fraser Coast Airport. From there, a transfer bus is available and can be booked at the transfer desk on arrival costing approximately AUD8.00 to AUD10.00.
Bus: Premier, Greyhound and OzExperience bus lines all arrive into Hervey Bay daily. Beaches courtesy bus will be there to meet you for your free trip to the hostel.
Train: To get to Hervey Bay by train, select Maryborough West as your stop, and jump on the Hervey Bay Express Bus. It will take you from the train directly to Hervey Bay, about a 30 minute drive.
