Experience the spectacle as thousands of little bent-winged bats stream from Bat Cleft at Mount Etna Caves National Park. The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is taking bookings for Bat Cleft tours now!
Bat Cleft is one of only five recorded little bent-winged bat maternity sites and accommodates 80 per cent of the known Australian population. Over summer, mature females give birth and nurse their young in Bat Cleft. At night they swarm out of the cave to feed on insects.
... moreJoin a ranger-guided tour from December to February. For safety you will be anchored with a rock-climbing harness to peer into the depths of the cave and watch this natural show unfold.

Children under 15 are welcome but must be under adult supervision.
Entity Restrictions
Not suitable for wheelchairs as sections of the track have many steps and can be steep.
Inclusion
No parking fees.
Visit the nearby picnic area at Cammoo, for a self guided walk through the park and free barbecue facilities.

This event occurs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening from December - February depending on Bent-winged bat maternity habits.
