Islands and Beaches

The Keppel Island group on the Southern Great Barrier Reef off Yeppoon consists of 18 islands including Great Keppel Island, a magnificent holiday destination. Visit Great Keppel for a lazy Sunday picnic lunch with the family or stay for a week and take the opportunity to really unwind in this sub-tropical island paradise.

Many of these Southern Great Barrier Reef islands are unspoilt National Parks with long sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The bushwalking is exceptionally peaceful and there's plenty of opportunities to find your own private beach to relax or camp.

Sailing is another wonderfully relaxing way to experience the area's natural beauty. Join a day cruise in clear waters to explore the beaches and islands of Keppel Bay, or do it yourself and take some learn to sail lessons. Most cruises include time to explore the relaxed village atmosphere of Great Keppel Island, as well as other activities like snorkelling on the spectacular Great Barrier Reef with its corals, fish and diverse marine life.

Back on the Capricorn Coast is a choice of 13 beaches along the scenic coastline from Yeppoon to Emu Park. The coastal towns sit on gorgeous stretches of coastline where year-round warm waters lap the pristine white sands.
