Coalstoun Lakes

Description

Coalstoun Lakes is a small rural township in the Biggenden Shire. A feature of the area is the Coalstoun Lakes beside the Gayndah-Biggenden road. They're not well known but they are the only volcanic crater lakes in south east Queensland. They originated from a relatively recent episode of basaltic volcanic activity, estimated at about 600,000 years ago.
