Objects included in the exhibition are from four significant archaeological sites that reflect Afghanistan's place at the heart of the ancient Silk Road. They are crafted from precious materials such as gold and turquoise and reflect influences from Egypt, India and Greece, among others.
The objects in this exhibition were once thought to have been lost forever: casualties of warfare, looting and destruction. In reality, during those years of turmoil the director and curators of the National Museum in Kabul had - at great personal risk - secretly hidden them, preserving them for future generations and keeping their nation's culture alive.... less
