Description

An Indigenous woman of mixed race explores her heritage in a performance interweaving text, movement, song and sound.

Song, the story of a girl, a bird and a teapot is inspired by the life experience of writer/performer Waiata Telfer, an Indigenous woman of mixed race who has intense cultural connection to her heritage but has disconnected from her family and community.

... more

Tough and vulnerable, funny and forlorn, our girl travels with her trusted teapot and its reminder of traditions and rituals. She is drawn by the calling of a bird that she cannot see but whose song she can instinctively hear.

Written and performed by Waiata Telfer. Dramaturgy by Sue Rider. Choreography by Vicki Van Hout.

Audience to bring a small stone.
