Nature lovers will be inspired to explore the assortment of habitats from the playful ocean life to the soaring sand dunes and abundant wetlands. These surroundings provide the perfect environment for all sorts of activities including sailing and cruising, snorkelling, sand tobogganing, four-wheel driving, bushwalking and much more.

The many bayside villages in the area are a mere 25 kilometres from Brisbane Central Business District and provide a charming community of restaurants, cafes, a winery commanding expansive bay views, independent art galleries, museums and bayside picnic spots.

For a special and unique treat, visit between June and October to see pods of whales putting on a show. This region provides the best land-based vantage points along the entire coast and is a base for the many cruises that get up close and personal with the whales.

How To Get There

Incredibly, this natural utopia exists only 25 kilometres east or 30 minutes from Brisbane's city centre and can be explored on two legs, four wheels or by boat.

Bayside destinations on the mainland are well-served by public transport. Visit Translink for timetables and ticketing information.

Catch the Cleveland line to Manly or the Shorncliffe line to Sandgate/Shorncliffe and further public transport to Redcliffe peninsula. The Caboolture line also provides access for the Redcliffe peninsula

Bribie Island
Bribie Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Travelling time is 60 minutes from the city along the Bruce Highway.

Moreton Island
Moreton Island Adventures Micat departs from the Port of Brisbane at 8:30am daily with additional services at 1:30pm and 3:30 Thursday to Sunday. Travelling time is 75 minutes.

North Stradbroke Island
Ferries to North Stradbroke Island depart from Toondah Harbour, Cleveland.

Catch a Cleveland line train to Cleveland. Then catch the bus to the ferry terminal. The bus transfer is included in your train ticket.

Travel east from the city on the Expressway and Old Cleveland Road to Cleveland and then follow the signs to Toondah Harbour.
