The Country Valleys are an hour drive from Brisbane and is made up of a collection of laid-back country towns like Dayboro, Ocean View, Woodford and Kilcoy. You can spend plenty of lazy days discovering these quaint towns that are chock-a-block full of heritage experiences, antique shops, art galleries and traditional pubs. Stay a little longer at the rustic homesteads, bed and breakfasts or a mountain retreat that has sweeping views of the country-side over to Moreton Bay to let that country air really sink into your lungs.
For gorgeous scenery and watersports galore, the lakes and dams of Esk is the place for you. Esk is located in the middle of the Valley of the Lakes and is the gateway to Lake Wivenhoe, Somerset Dam and Atkinson Dam where you can set yourself up on the banks and relax as boats whiz past with wake boarders in tow. This is relaxation out here!
The region is also known for its boutique wineries, which can be best experienced on the Somerset Valley Wine Trail that covers five local wineries including the Ocean View Estates Winery and Restaurant.
On the more extreme side, the drop zone at Toogoolawah is rated as one of the best skydiving spots in the country because of the services and facilities available, not to mention the incredible views.
For a bit of everything country at a relaxed pace, a day-trip or a short stay in the Country Valleys will put you back on the right foot.
