Southport is just north of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and is home to Sea World and the luxurious Palazzo Versace Hotel. Southport overlooks the Broadwater and the Southport Spit, which is a long sandbar that divides the Broadwater from the Pacific Ocean. The Spit is popular with surfers and fisherman alike.
There is excellent shopping in Southport at the Marina Mirage and the Australia Fair Shopping Centre.
