Clean, quiet, friendly, family run hostel. A unique escape from the hostel party circuit on one acre of tropical gardens, right in the centre of Hervey Bay and only five minutes walk to the beach, shops, supermarket, restaurants and pubs.

Rooms are spread over four different buildings, situated within a large garden, surrounded by ponds, tropical vegetation, palm trees and gum trees, hammocks and eating areas. The natural setting attracts a lot of wildlife - there is daily parrot feeding, possums drop in for a visit and Hervey Bay's famous fruit bats can be spotted seasonally as they fly in their thousands over the Woolshed on their way to Fraser Island.

If you like to meet the other guests, find new friends, have a drink and a chat, pop into their well equipped kitchen/common room. It resembles an Aussie Woolshed, is entirely built of wood and oozes character and atmosphere.

They also offer their guests independent advice based on local knowledge and experience for every Fraser and Lady Elliot Island tour from Hervey Bay.

At the Aussie Woolshed they like to do their best to make all of their guests feel very welcome and at home. They are well aware that travellers have different budgets, expectations and tastes. That's why they have set up a wide variety of rooms to suit all budgets. From a budget six bed dorm to private ensuite with tea/coffee facilities, television, DVD player and free DVD's from reception. They also have a library and book swap. Their latest edition to their unique experience is "The Shearers Quarters" a three bedroom traditional Queenslander (sleeps eight).

Aussie Woolshed Backpackers has also been recommended by Let's Go, Rough Guides, Loose Travel Book and have been recommended as "The Pick" of Hervey Bay budget accommodation in the Lonely Planet travel guide since 2007.

Office hours are 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. daily, a courtesy pick up/drop off from the bus stop is available within these hours by arrangement. If you are arriving outside of these hours, prior arrangements need to be organised.

How To Get There:
To find the Woolshed Backpackers, drive into town, past McDonalds and Bunnings Warehouse. When the motorway becomes one lane take the next left on top of the hill into Queens Road. Then turn right at the lights into Torquay Road. The Woolshed address is 181 Torquay Road, approximately 300 metres on the right on top of the hill.
If you arrive by bus please phone them soon as you arrive and they'll organise a free transfer.
By plane the airport shuttle is AUD12.00 per person or a taxi is approximately AUD25.00.
