Family owned Thala Beach Lodge, a luxury eco resort south of Port Douglas, sits spectacularly atop a headland with breathtaking views of untouched coastline. An island on the mainland!

At a time when there are great concerns about fragile environments, Thala proudly boasts that it has achieved the highest accreditation of eco certification through its sustainable practice and environmental sensitivity.

Deluxe timber bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains. Time spent relaxing on the timber-decked verandahs is always well rewarded by sightings of birds, butterflies, possums and sugar gliders.

The views from the restaurant are panoramic, taking in the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage forests that cover our coastal ranges. Guests dine among the birds in the surrounding treetops whilst enjoying world-class fine food with friendly five-star service.

How To Get There:
Thala is located 45 minutes north of the Cairns International Airport and 15 minutes south of Port Douglas. Sitting spectacularly atop a peninsula with breathtaking views of untouched coastline, it is the only beach nature lodge between Cairns and Port Douglas and provides the perfect location to explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
Driving north form Cairns Airport or the city of Cairns, Thala Beach Lodge is situated just off the Captain Cook Highway on its own private entrance 16 kilometres south of Port Douglas. There is a large sign post on the highway indicating the entrance.
Clients can be met at the Cairns Airport, or from other hotels in the Cairns region, and at the train station and port. A transfer cost is payable per person each way - this must be arranged prior to arrival.
