Situated on a picturesque loop of Carnarvon Creek, Carnarvon Gorge, Takarakka Bush Resort is a destination in itself as well as a great place to base yourself while exploring Carnarvon Gorge and surrounding areas.

Located on 44 acres with plenty of space for all. Takarakka provides a range of accommodation types to suit everyone's needs. Offering a self contained cottage that sleeps four, two ensuite cabins both also sleeping four, unique safari tents that sleep up to five plus shady powered and unpowered sites.

Enjoy a two course succulent spit roast dinner (available during peak season), a ranger talk around the open fire, watch the sunset over the sandstone cliffs, or wander down to the creek in search of platypus swimming in their natural habitat.

Join a local tour guide to help you discover the magic of Carnarvon Gorge. Spend your days wandering past towering cliffs and into secluded side-gorges. Tours booked at your request to visit the Moss Garden, Amphitheatre, Wards Canyon, Art Gallery and the Baloon Cave. Along the way you will learn about Aboriginal bush tucker and the significance of the traditional rock paintings.

Cancellation Information:
24 hours prior to check in - refund is zero percent of deposit. Two to seven days prior to check in - refund is 50 percent of deposit. Eight to 14 days - refund is 80 percent of deposit. More than 14 days - refund is 100 percent of deposit less an AUD20.00 administration fee. No refunds for early departures or no shows. All cancellations are subject to a AUD20.00 administration fee from deposit return (whichever is the greater).

Refuel at Rolleston or Injune, as there are no petrol stations at Carnarvon Gorge.

How To Get There:
South: From Roma, north to Injune, turn off to Carnarvon Gorge 110 kilometres north of Injune, then 45 kilometres into Carnarvon Gorge, 17 kilometres of unsealed road.
North: From Emerald, south to Springsure, then Rolleston, turn off 61 kilometres south of Rolleston, then 45 kilometres into Carnarvon Gorge, 17 kilometres of unsealed road.

Tariff Information:
Bookings for up to three nights require full payment, up to five nights require a 50 per cent deposit, and longer periods require a 30 per cent deposit.
Deposits can be paid either by credit card, cheque or money order. Deposits/payments will be refunded in accordance with the Cancellation Policy.

Safari Tent

Permanent canvas cabins with a verandah out front, comfortable sleeping for five (one double, three single), a fridge and a fan. Spread out along Carnarvon Creek, the Canvas Cabins are the perfect, economical alternative to camping - just the right combination of comfort and bush atmosphere.

Price includes linen for two guests. Bring your own linen for other guests (sheets, towels, pillowcases - or this can be hired), you will also need to bring cooking and eating utensils (crockery, cutlery, utensils, saucepans) and, of course, your food. No internal cooking facilities provided.
