Rivers Edge Retreat consists of two exclusive holiday lodges, Cooinda and Coolara, hidden from each other in five acres of virgin rainforest. These fully self contained havens are ideal for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or two or three couples travelling together.

Extensive use of glass makes you feel as close to nature as you can get while still being surrounded by all the luxurious comforts you could want.

The retreat has 300 metres of absolute frontage to the beautiful North Johnstone River with its magnificent rapids, secluded swimming holes, resident wildlife and peaceful ambience, yet only five minutes from the picturesque Atherton Tableland village of Malanda.

2,500 feet above sea level and just an hours drive from Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, the retreat is central to all the Atherton Tableland natural attractions - national parks, crater lakes, waterfalls, spectacular scenery and historic villages.

Both lodges are a nature lover's paradise and the children will enjoy the freedom, the swimming, canoeing, up close and personal with the wildlife - pademelons, possums, myriad of birds, turtles, platypus and viewing of the unique tree climbing kangaroos are very special.

How To Get There:
Guided directions will be forwarded to guests on receipt of booking and deposit. The Retreat is four minutes from Malanda off the Lake Barrine Road and nine kilometres from Eacham Roadhouse turnoff. Access is via Figtree Close.

Rivers Edge Rainforest Retreat Rooms

Cooinda

This unique three bedroom timber lodge looks over the beautiful North Johnstone River and the rainforest surrounds. Watch the platypus whilst enjoying a barbecue breakfast or cocktails on your full length spacious verandah.

The master bedroom with its king size bed opens up onto the front verandah as does the generous dining and lounge room. The master bedroom also features an ensuite with a double spa and views to the river.

The other two bedrooms have two king singles that can convert to a huge king size bed. These bedrooms open to the rear verandah and rainforest.

Coolara

Coolara is available for exclusive letting either in its entirety as a three bedroom lodge, or just the upstairs two bedroom living area. The upstairs section is the main part of the retreat and is fully self-contained with bedrooms, lounge and kitchen opening onto a large verandah with barbecue, casual chairs and dining furniture - perfect to sit and enjoy nature's splendour.

For those guests wishing to let the entire residence, the downstairs section is a completely private retreat with a king size master bedroom with a private deck, walk-in robe and ensuite double spa and double shower which can also be completely opened up to enjoy the natural surrounds
