This sub-tropical island has an abundance of native flora and fauna, and is edged with mangrove interspersed with sandy beaches. Beyond the waterfront below the cottage, a Marine Reserve has been established to protect dugong and turtle habitat. When crabbing, remember, jennies and undersize males are released, not eaten! Please check cottage information for fish and crab size.

The Southern Moreton Bay Islands of Russell, Lamb, Karragarra and Macleay are located in sub tropical, south eastern Queensland They are situated just off the coast from Redland Bay which is approximately one hour from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast. Exit 30 is the Redland Bay turn off if driving from the Gold Coast.
It is approximately 45-60 minutes from the Brisbane Central Business District or airport to Redland Bay. The National Bus Company provides a regular service from the City to Redland Bay.
Once there, The Bay Island Taxi Services (BITS) waterbus provides a regular passenger service from the southern end of Banana Street, Redland Bay. If a cycling enthusiast, bicycles can be transported on the waterbus. It takes 20 minutes to reach Lamb Island.
If driving, The Bay Islander Service vehicular barge is located at the end of Weinam Street, Redland Bay. The journey to Lamb Island takes from 45 - 50 minutes. Barge booking is essential.
Wyrd is a few minutes' drive across the island or a comfortable 25 minute walk. There is no public transport or taxi service on Lamb, although arrangements can be made for private transport from jetty to cottage.
Pet Extract
Pets are not allowed. The property is not fenced, and ticks can be a problem for animals. Wandering pets are also a real threat to the abundant wild-life.
