General Comments
Atherton Halloran's Leisure Park is a quiet peaceful relaxing park set on six and a half acres accommodating in villas, powered sites and camping on the base of Halloran's Hill, an extinct volcano just on the edge of Atherton. You'll enjoy cool breezes with great views over Atherton and the rugged backdrop of the Great Dividing Range behind Atherton.
Atherton is the regional hub of the Crater Lakes and Waterfalls District of the picturesque tropical Atherton Tablelands, where, within a short drive, you'll find pristine crater lakes, waterfalls, unique rainforest, bird watching sites, bushwalking tracks and many fascinating historical and natural features. Atherton is the business centre of the Tablelands servicing the wide agricultural community.
The town centre is just one and a half kilometres from Atherton Halloran's Leisure Park where you'll find every convenience and facility, hospital, government services, banking, shopping and recreation centres. Once you've explored the naturally air conditioned tablelands, they are only one hour's drive to Cairns, the beaches or the outback.
How To Get There
There are five major access points to the tropical Atherton Tablelands. There is Palmerston Highway from Innisfail on the coast, Gillies Highway via Gordonvale, south of Cairns, the Kennedy Highway via Kuranda, just north of Cairns, Rex Range from Port Douglas, north of Cairns, and Kennedy Highway from the west, through Ravenshoe. All these roads are through picturesque countryside and lead directly to Atherton.
If coming in from Mareeba/Kuranda(Highway One), turn left at the post office roundabout. From Malanda (Highway 25)/Ravenshoe (Highway One), turn right after the Atherton International Club. From Herberton (Highway 52), turn right at the Post Office roundabout. From Yungaburra (Highway 52), turn left at the Showgrounds.
