Description

Wilson Island is a tiny coral cay located just 45 minutes from Heron Island. A divine sweep of castor sugar sands that is home to turtles and birds, Wilson is both part of the Great Barrier Reef and surrounded by it. Its pristine waters host an unimaginable variety of marine life including colourful coral and fish, with some of the best snorkelling just off the beach.

Offering tented accommodation designed to be the ultimate in relaxed comfort (more commonly known as 'glamping'), Wilson Island provides just 12 guests with access to the magnificent reef and beach environments, including rare turtle and bird breeding grounds. A true communion with nature is at the core of the Wilson Island experience - to live and enjoy life as a castaway. Days can be filled snorkelling and exploring the island, in-season turtle watching or bird nesting, the birth of hatchlings, or simply lazing in a hammock.

Wilson Island is the Great Barrier Reef as nature intended.

Disabled:
Wilson Island is a coral cay surrounded by beach. Sand pathways access accommodation and the central Longhouse complex. Stairs only access to tent accommodation and dining platform.

Cancellation Information:
Within 30 to 15 days of arrival, a 50 per cent cancellation fee equivalent to accommodation (per room cancelled) applies, based on original booked dated. Within 14 to day of arrival, a 100 per cent cancellation fee equivalent to full contracted rate per confirmed room per night, transfers and pre-booked day tours.

Other Facilities:
Meals on the island are dinner party or gourmet picnic in style - a commitment to freshness, simplicity and variety guides the menu. Buffet breakfast, lunch with picnic baskets or deli style platters is included in your tariff. Dinners are three course meals with wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks also included. Communal/central dining table.

Further Details:
Boat transfer between Heron Island and Wilson Island is included in the package. Transfer from Gladstone to Heron Island is at an additional cost.

Wilson Island is closed from January 26 to February 26, by National Parks to allow resident bird population the peace and quiet they need to nest.

How To Get There:
Access to Wilson Island is via Heron Island.
Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities to Gladstone.

Tariff Information:
The tariff is fully inclusive of accommodation, gourmet meals, a selected range of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snorkelling gear. Children 12 years of age and under are not catered for. This resort is available for Exclusive Use.

Safari Tent

The six permanent tents, all with reef and ocean outlooks, are designed for ultimate comfort. Features include king size bed with duvets, bedside tables and storage chest, battery operated bedside lights and clock, comfortable deck chairs and hammocks.

Solar power allows for hot showers and other creature comforts to be enjoyed in the central amenities building. Each tent has its own designated private shower and dressing area. Toilets and vanities are also located in this building.
