Description

Dougies Backpackers Resort is run by a bunch of folks who had lots of fun backpacking around the world, so they decided to start a hostel themselves. They have been building Dougies Backpackers for over 12 years and have the relaxed atmosphere, without all of the formal procedures that some hostels have. The philosophy at Dougies is ""Kick Back and Relax"".

There is all of the hostel facilities that a fun lovin' backpacker could ever need, including a bar, refreshing swimming pool, free barbecue, a huge self-cook kitchen, facilities, shop, laundry, internet, satellite television (really big one), hire bikes, fishing rods, tour desk and of course accommodation (doubles, twins, share rooms, camping, van sites and their very own stylish canvas tents).

Dougies Backpackers Resort is located on the left hand side on the way into town.

Once you see the tropical gardens and cruisy front lawn you might just want to lay back and relax under a palm tree, kick back in a hammock by the pool, or you may even like to unwind on the grass and soak up some of the Far North's warm tropical sunlight

How To Get There:
Dougies Backpackers Resort offers a free pick up service with a bus that cruises to Cairns on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 8.30a.m. and can pick you up from anywhere in Cairns between 10.30a.m. and 11.00a.m. Please book for this service.
Several coach companies run services to and from Cairns and Port Douglas. Costs are AUD20.00 to AUD35.00 one way.
If you are driving, take the main road north out of Cairns past the airport and follow the signs to Port Douglas. The drive along the Captain Cook Highway takes about 45 minutes. The Port Douglas turnoff is 15 kilometres before Mossman, take this road and travel towards the village for three kilometres.
