Description
Henry Reppel came to Queensland from Germany in 1862 and worked as a shepherd on Goomburra Station. In the 1880s he opened the Boarding House in Drayton Street Allora which provided accommodation for workers such as shearers and apprentice blacksmiths in the district.
Recently, this historically listed building has been lovingly restored to its former glory. It contains many well-preserved period features that reflect the era in which it was originally built. It is now open to the public and known as Reppels Bed and Breakfast.

His daughter, Helen Lyndon Goff wrote the Mary Poppins books under the name of P.L. Travers, based partly on her childhood experiences in the town.

Reppels Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of the historic township of Allora. The town nestles beside Dalrymple Creeks just off the New England Highway, 20 minutes from Warwick and 40 minutes from Toowoomba. Allora is only 20 a two hour drive from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast via the Cunningham Highway.

Room One is a period decorated room with 12 foot ceilings, polished floors and cast iron fireplace. It features a wrought iron queen size bed, winged backed chairs and claw foot bath with shower overhead in the en suite. Room One opens out to the front verandah of the home.

Room Three is the original cooking room for the boarding house and been converted into a guest room. It has a gabbled timber ceiling, heritage pattern carpet and the original stove area with a period style cast iron fireplace. It features a wrought iron queen size bed and claw foot bath with shower overhead in the en suite. Room Three opens out to the back verandah of the home.
